Summerhill 1-13 Na Fianna 1-10
Experience was the crucial factor as Summerhill gained their second Meath SFC title in three years at the expense of first time finalists Na Fianna at Pairc Tailteann yesterday.
Last year’s intermediate champions Na Fianna had a spectacular run to the senior decider, firing 20 goals in their seven games. However, they had to settle for just one in yesterday’s showpiece.
After losing their opening two games in the group phase, Summerhill were playing knockout football for the rest of the campaign and they saved their best form for the home straight.
Both goals in the final were netted in the opening four minutes and the goal which eventually separated the sides at the final whistle was registered about 25 seconds after the throw-in.
