Macheda out for season

On loan QPR striker Federico Macheda’s season appears to be over.

Macheda has been sent back to Manchester United for treatment on the ankle injury which has restricted him to six appearances since he joined Rangers on loan in January. QPR say the 20-year-old is not expected to play again this season.

Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt thinks QPR would not be in the relegation zone if they had a better disciplinary record. With eight tough fixtures to play, Rangers sit 18th in the Premier League, one place and one point from safety, and their predicament can partly be explained by the fact they have picked up six red cards and 43 yellows this season.

“I think we have performed at home but we’ve lost so many points because of red cards,” he said. “We’ve lost so many games, like Norwich and Wolves. We should have won these games, but with 10 men it is difficult.”

Djibril Cisse, sent off during Saturday’s defeat to Sunderland, will miss the next four matches.
